The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s Department of Ethnomusicology invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in African American Musical Heritage for Fall quarter of the 2026-27 academic year. The course explores the cultural and musical roots of West/Central Africa and their transformations in the USA from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Responsibilities include individual student teaching supervision and assigned undergraduate ethnomusicology courses. Applicants should have an established reputation as a music educator with expertise in the curriculum of sociocultural history and survey of African American music.
