What We Collect

On Our Website

TenureTracker collects minimal data to provide our service:

• Email addresses: Only if you subscribe to job notifications
• Search queries: Search terms and filter selections used to provide search and improve the service

Through Social Media Posts

When we post job listings to Bluesky and Threads, we include short URLs that redirect to cached job listings on our website. For these short URLs, we only track:

• Click counts: How many times each job listing link is clicked
• No personal data: We don't store who clicked or any identifying information

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts on the public site.

Cookies and Browser Storage

TenureTracker uses a small number of cookies and browser storage features that are intended to be functional or strictly necessary under EU ePrivacy rules.

• Login and security cookies: If you sign in to an internal/admin area, the site uses session-related cookies needed to keep you logged in and protect forms.
• Advertise access cookie: If you use the advertiser request inbox, the site stores a functional cookie so the inbox session works at /advertise/requests.
• Theme preference: The public site stores your chosen light, dark, or automatic theme in browser localStorage.
• Interface state: Some homepage filter and scroll-state preferences are stored in localStorage or sessionStorage to keep the search interface usable.

We do not currently use a public analytics, advertising, or social-tracking cookie on the site.

How We Use Your Data

• Email addresses: To send you job notifications based on your preferences
• Search queries: To understand what jobs people are looking for and improve our search
• Click counts: To understand which job postings are most popular and improve our service

Data Sharing

We don't sell, share, or give your data to anyone.

The public site does load some third-party static assets, currently Google Fonts and Font Awesome via external CDNs. Those providers may receive standard technical request data such as your IP address when your browser loads those files.

We may post anonymized job market statistics on social media (Bluesky, Threads), but these contain no personal information.

Your Rights

You can unsubscribe from emails at any time or contact us to delete your data.

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption and secure database storage.
