Postdoctoral Researcher in Microbial Ecology and Wastewater Treatment

The Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS) at the University of Vienna seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Division of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science (DoME). The successful candidate will investigate metabolic features shaping interactions between Patescibacteria and other microbes, including polyphosphate-accumulating organisms in wastewater treatment plants. The role involves bioinformatic analyses of genome and metagenome data, complemented by lab-based methods such as fluorescence in situ hybridization and activity-based assays. The position offers a gross salary of EUR 5,014.30 per month (14x per year) on a full-time basis, with opportunities for flexible working hours and internal training. The contract is limited until a specified date, starting January 1, 2027.
