The research project will integrate high-resolution, multi-omics post-mortem tissue analysis with functional validation in cellular models to identify heterochromatin erosion as a key driver of the regional pathology of Parkinson's Disease (PD). This could lead to novel therapeutic strategies targeting epigenetic ageing processes in PD. The project is part of the international Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) network and involves multi-disciplinary approaches and collaboration across institutions.
