Staff Scientist in Cryo-Electron Microscopy and Tomography

Umeå University is seeking a Staff Scientist specializing in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and tomography at the Umeå Centre for Electron Microscopy (UCEM). The position involves providing expertise in electron microscopy, electron tomography, and image analysis to researchers across medical, biological, chemical, biochemical, and physical fields. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining instruments, assisting with sample preparation, data collection, and image analysis, as well as teaching postgraduate courses and coordinating facility projects. The role requires a PhD in structural biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or equivalent, with extensive experience in EM data collection and analysis, particularly in single particle analysis and tomography. Strong computer skills and collaborative abilities are essential. The employment is fixed-term for 12 months, with a starting date as soon as possible.
