Head and Professor of English

Purdue University’s College of Liberal Arts invites applications for Head and Professor of English. The successful candidate will provide visionary academic leadership as Department Head, overseeing strategic direction, faculty development, budget management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Reporting to the Dean, responsibilities include advancing undergraduate and graduate student success, fostering external relations, and promoting a culture of intellectual openness and academic freedom. The department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs with specializations in Literary Studies, Professional Writing, Creative Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, and Cultural Studies. Candidates must hold a terminal degree, demonstrate excellence in teaching and research, and have a record suitable for full professor appointment, including leadership experience and extramural funding success.
