Research Associate (Syriac)

The University of Manchester is looking for a committed postdoctoral researcher to join the ERC-funded project ‘Gesius’ Commentaries on Galen: Recovering lost works through a mixed-method approach. The role involves reading and translating the Syriac undertext from the Gesius palimpsests, studying its historical and linguistic context, and contributing to multidisciplinary research. Candidates should have a PhD in Syriac Studies or a related field, excellent command of Syriac, and strong communication skills. The position is full-time, fixed-term until March 2031, with opportunities for professional development and research trips.
