This PhD project will investigate the enzymatic mechanism and structural organization of the GTPBP3-MTO1 complex, which is crucial for mitochondrial translation and linked to severe diseases. The candidate will reconstitute the tRNA modification pathway in vitro and resolve the structural basis of enzyme cooperation using advanced biophysical techniques. This research aims to provide insights into the biochemical and structural mechanisms of τm5U34 synthesis and its implications for therapeutic strategies against mitochondrial disorders.
