The Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Chicago invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. We are looking for outstanding scientists who employ theoretical, computational, and observational methods to explore the Extreme Universe, including multi-messenger/time-domain Astronomy and high-energy/plasma Astrophysics. The successful candidate will develop an original research program, complementing existing strengths in cosmology, observational astronomy, galaxy formation, and exoplanets. The position offers access to high-performance computing resources and involvement in significant research projects. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field by the appointment start date, expected to be July 1, 2027 or later.
