PhD Understanding and Predicting the Catalytic Reactivity of Biochars Based on Their Native Metal Content for the Production of Sustainable Materials

This PhD project focuses on understanding and predicting how the mineral composition of biomass and sludge affects the catalytic properties of biochars produced by pyrolysis. The candidate will work on selecting and characterizing feedstocks, producing biochars, and conducting catalytic testing. The project aims to quantify the effects of various elements on catalytic activity and develop machine-learning models to predict performance based on feedstock properties. The position is based at the ICPEES within the ECED group, specializing in heterogeneous catalysis and renewable resource conversion.
